A great perk of being a REALTOR in SARASOTA is the need to drive all over the area, often on a daily basis. I get to see things and learn more about my town, something that would not happen if I was sitting in my own home! Yesterday I was back on Siesta Key for an inspection on a great home I found for a close friend from my New Jersey days. On the way home at around 8:15PM, after an intense thunderstorm, I saw the sky transforming into incredible pink golf ball shaped cloud formations. I was on Osprey and couldn't wait to get to SARASOTA BAY FRONT to park my car because, of course, I had my camera with me. I only got a few shots of these unusual clouds before they dissolved, but the continuing sunset was amazing! I have lived in California and the Caribbean and yet SARASOTA has some of the most spectacular sunsets I have ever seen! I did google the clouds and here is what I found out:

Known as mammatus clouds, these strange, pouchy formations often occur in association with a thunderstorm. “They are some seriously weird looking clouds,” said cloud physicist Patrick Chuang.
But scientists do have some theories about mammutus clouds. Another cloud physicist, Daniel Breed of the National Center for Atmospheric Research, says buoyancy and convection of air is the key.
“They’re kind of like upside-down convection,” Breed said.
Convection is like a buoyant bubble, he said. In mammutus clouds, evaporation causes pockets of negative buoyancy as it cools the air inside the cloud. This makes the clouds puff downward instead of up like cumulus clouds, and they end up being like upside-down bubbles.

SELBY GARDENS AND JUNGLE GARDENS IN SARASOTA, FLORIDA

As most people know, when I am not working the Real Estate part of my life in SARASOTA, (and often when I am!), my face is usually behind a camera. Other than my amazingly photogenic grand daughter, my favorite subjects to capture tend to be those found in nature: critters, flowers, trees, shells, etc. Particularly, I love taking close up shots.
SARASOTA has an abundance of subjects to satisfy my passion. SELBY GARDENS and JUNGLE GARDENS are two of my favorite spots to photograph. The best part is I get to take my grand daughter with me! Have a look!

I have spent all day in front of my computer. Granted, I WAS doing work...mostly! I have learned one VERY important thing...SPELL YOUR NAME CORRECTLY! Haha...all of my earlier posts I had to delete as I had my name wrong! But since I didn't get into the "real" world yet today, here's a glimpse at some of my frequent backyard visitors!

Boating in Sarasota

One of the joys of living by the water in SARASOTA is actually going out ON the water! Recently we left late in the afternoon, enjoyed some time at Snake Island and continued on to Midnight Pass and anchored in order to watch the end of the sunset on the beach! Sunset on the water is nothing short of magical.

At home on Siesta Key SARASOTA

Sometimes the best way to spend a day and evening in SARASOTA is with friends and family in a private home. Yesterday I had the pleasure of enjoying a day at a home I helped my dear friend from NJ find and purchase. It is located on the grand canal of Siesta Key http://www.visitsarasota.org/siesta-key/?gclid=CMKX9dK20rgCFY3m7Aods1wA9g nestled high in the bamboo and palm trees. You feel as if you are living in a tree house! We swam, we laughed, we helped come up with ideas for decorating and reminisced about our 30+ years of friendship. We are now Grandparents and some of our children and one grandchild also joined us. Although we met and raised our families in NJ, most of "the group" have all relocated to SARASOTA! and were here together for the welcome party.. it doesn't get much better than that!

Last night in Sarasota

One of the most challenging aspects of living in Sarasota on the Cultural Coast, is deciding what to do each and every day and evening. Last night at http://www.oceanblues.net/ I had the great pleasure of seeing http://www.laurenmitchellband.com/ for the second time. This band is smokin' hot! Everyone was up and dancing as the band belted out blues for the first set which was 1 1/2 hours! I enjoyed the Jamaican Sunsplash thin crust pizza with jerk chicken, bacon, pineapple and pesto....HIGHLY recommend the venue, the food and the entertainment :)

Entering the world of blogging!

My intent is to introduce you to all that Sarasota, the Cultural Coast, has to offer.
I'd like to share this video I made while visiting the vibrant Sarasota Farmer's Market held every Saturday.
Enjoy!
